I'm designing a connection in Precast concrete. Does anyone have any published values of bond capacity for steel spiral ducts cast into concrete?

RE: Bond capacity of spiral duct in precast concrete connection deatail

I'm not familiar with that type of connection. Unless you mean the coil sleeve inserts that are designed to accept coil bolts and coil rod?

I think Dave is referring to corrugated metal duct, as used in multi-strand post-tensioning systems. It is also sometimes used for sleeves in precast work. I don't know of any published bond capacity data, but there may be some.

There is a brief section in the PCI manual and CPCI manual for grouted connections using corrugated post tensioning ducts.

Enjoy some light reading from U of Texas, Austin research:

Ah, yes I see now. We bid on a job for a precast pier system and it used those connections ingenuity. Ended up not getting that job so I've not yet had to design with it. Great references, though. I'll file those away for later.
