Vibration Analysis of Barred Tees

Vibration Analysis of Barred Tees

Vibration Analysis of Barred Tees

(OP)
Does anyone know how to do Vibration Analysis of Barred Tee at manufacturer facility, and why is it necessary, and which standard to refer for this Analysis if not ASTM A370?

Details: -
Barred Tee size is 28x24
Designed Flow rate is 240-540 MMSCUFD
Manufacturing Standard and Tolerance - ASTM A860, MSS SP 75

The Client has following comment on Data Sheet:-
Bar thickness provided in this datasheet is for information only. Supplier to advise the actual thickness which must be more than 12.7 mm (1/2")based on vibration analysis of the tee. Vibration analysis of the tee shall be submitted for review.

RE: Vibration Analysis of Barred Tees

Vibration analysis of branch connections is usually performed if acoustic induced vibration (AIV) or flow induced vibration (FIV) is likely to be an issue. A good starting point would be "Guidelines for the Avoidance of Induced Fatigue Failure in Process Pipework" produced by the Energy Institute (London).
The client wants the stiffness of the bars in the tee to be sufficient such that the established vibration in the tee does not lead to their failure, particularly of the welds.

RE: Vibration Analysis of Barred Tees

1/2" bars on a 28x24 tee. Why would you even put something that rediculuous on the data sheet, especially when it is left to the vendor to size.

Reaction to change doesn't stop it smile
