Half-Poured Cylindrical Foundation for Strain Pole

Half-Poured Cylindrical Foundation for Strain Pole

Half-Poured Cylindrical Foundation for Strain Pole

(OP)
Hi Everyone

I've got a question from a contractor. They're pouring a cylindrical foundation for a strain pole and only got to pour about half way. They need confirmation that no integrity is lost from finishing the pour after the first half has already set. Full rebar cage is already in place. See attached for detail. Can anyone think of an issue that might arise from this?

possibility of water intrusion at the cold joint?

RE: Half-Poured Cylindrical Foundation for Strain Pole

You should be fine. It would be nice if you could develop your vertical bars on either side of the joint for shear friction bit even that's surely not a big deal. Will the joint be below the anchor bolts? That would be nice too.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

The depth of foundation is 16' and the depth of anchor bolts is 5', so if the joint is half way it should be fine. Thanks for your thoughts!
