PUP PIECES
PUP PIECES
(OP)
Dear All, I have a doubt please support me to clear it;
Our pipeline material is API 5L X70 and has a Valve of material ASTM A350 LF2, accordingly the pup piece designed is API 5L X70, but the vendor propose for ASTM A 694 F65 pup piece. Is it possible to manufacture forged (ASTM A 694 F65) or wrought (MSS SP 75 WPHY 65) line pipes?
As per my understanding the welding has no issues, as the WPS for the same will be developed for the other fittings (eg. Flanges,anchor flanges and IJ)

RE: PUP PIECES
You don't quote thicknesses so I can only assume the thickness of the F65 pup is only then marginally thicker than the X70 and is then forged and machined to then meet what is I assume a much thicker section of A350.
If you have developed a WPS for welding X70 to A694 F65 for other items such as flanges etc, then so long as you are not changing any of the essential variables (depends on which welding standard you're using) then it should be Ok for this pup piece. IMHO.
Presumably the valve vendor is responsible for the WPS between his F65 pup piece and A350 valve body?
