Mirrored parts drawing

Mirrored parts drawing

Mirrored parts drawing

(OP)
I wanted to respond to a thread that I found, but it was too old and closed. So, I've started a new thread. I am having the same issue that the original poster had. The final comment on the original thread is copied below.
First off, I am using NX10.
I have an original RH part and I've used mirrored linked bodies to make the LH part. The part is mirrored about one of the origin planes which is at a corner of a large rectangular plate. Now each of these needs it's own 2D drawing. The RH part already had a drawing. So, following the suggestions listed below, I did a Save As to the drawing to the new file name, then replaced the RH part (we are using master model) with the LH part. Go into drafting and nothing is associated, not dimensions, centerlines, anything. All annotations are still there, but I'd have to go through and reattach everything. There must be a better way.

Thanks,

If you're doing Master Model Drafting (where the Drawing file is an Assembly) have tried to simply replace the 'As Shown' part with the 'Opposite' and then let the associative nature of the Dimensions and Annotation update? If the two models are of the same origin, that is the 'Opposite' is copied from the 'As Shown' then most of the Dimensions should update correctly. Granted, there may be some reattaching to do, but it should be minimal.

RE: Mirrored parts drawing

Would be very interested as well, we currently handle mirrored LH / RH parts by only dimensioning and annotating the non mirrored master part, and the other drawing is simplified and has a reference to the master.

RE: Mirrored parts drawing

I don't know the answer as I very rarely get to work with mirrored parts. However, based on my experience with NX, I would be very (pleasantly) surprised if the drawing updated correctly with no manual intervention.

RE: Mirrored parts drawing

I agree with cowski, I don't see it happening, as NX is now.
