Simple Soalr charge/light circuit

Simple Soalr charge/light circuit

(OP)
I need help with the design of a simple solar charge circuit that uses a 5V solar array to charge 1 3.7V Li ion battery during the day and light 3 LED's after dark with the charged battery. Something simple/inexpensive. Any help?

RE: Simple Soalr charge/light circuit

Well...those yard lights invariably use single NiMH cells (1.2V) rather than 3.7V Li-ion cells. They require a boost stage just to run their LED, but the cells themselves charge directly from the panel without need for any BMS circuitry.

I'm unaware of a simple single circuit which handles both charge and discharge of a single 3.7/4.2V Li-ion or 3.2V LiFePO4 cell. I'm sure it exists, but I haven't seen it in a cheap Chinese board that you can buy for a few dollars on Amazon or E-Bay yet. If someone knows of one, let me know. The multicell discharge monitoring boards for $2-3 which sound an alarm when any cell drops below a preset level are easy enough to find, as are charge controllers meant to be paired with constant voltage input sources.

Start Here and use what you find or hack what you find. Other searches may work better for you. The search function is comprehensive.
