UG-34(d)(12) / Fig UG-34(q) : Flaring

(OP)
Design code: ASME VIII-1 (2015)
Paragraphs UG-34(d)(12) / Fig UG-34(q)

We are designing a threaded unstayed flat head, and I'm going through the requirements of UG-34(d)(12). In this paragraph it discusses the need to check against radial deformation (flaring). Does anyone have any good references that discuss this topic and how to handle it?

We are using UN threads.

It's been a while since I've gone through detailed screw design, and I've gotten all twisted up. Help!

RE: UG-34(d)(12) / Fig UG-34(q) : Flaring

You could look at 5.6.1.6 of BS EN 14359:2006

That refers to Tension & Flaring Stress In A Threaded Accumulator Body

Hope that is of help
