Ask for help - define Connector

Ask for help - define Connector

Ask for help - define Connector

(OP)
Hi,

I'm trying to modelling the bond-slip effect between concrete and steel using translator-type connector.

I understand that I need to define a "wire" on the inter surface between concrete and steel, and assign the translator-type section to the wire.

But later on when I submitted the job, it said that the regions of concrete and steel are not connect.

Should I also tie the wire to the concrete part and steel part? And how?

Or should the wire line be perpendicular to the interface?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Best regards,
wxmxavier

RE: Ask for help - define Connector

Normally, when I model connector/wire, I make sure it is perpendicular to the surfaces it is supposed to interface/connect with. And I know that kind of representation is accurate to my structure. I think it should work with your application as well...may be you can give it a try!

Thanks VN1981 for your hint.

For that should I create a cap between the concrete and the steel so as to set vertical lines in between?

Best regards,
wxmxavier

RE: Ask for help - define Connector

I am not sure if connector elements support zero length definition. Perhaps the manual will provide more info. In any case, you can create a very small gap and create wires/connectors and see if the results makes sense.
