Upper and Lower Transformation Temp (SEC IX)
Upper and Lower Transformation Temp (SEC IX)
(OP)
Hi
I would like to know where I can find the upper and lower transformation temperatures for different carbon steel. Are there tables/charts for that in the code?
Thanks,
Alan

RE: Upper and Lower Transformation Temp (SEC IX)
The minimum austenitizing temperature for carbon steel is 1600 deg F and above depending on carbon content (.35% or lower).

The American Society for Metals (ASM) has some very good ref. mat’ls. and ref. books on these general topics. For example, their “Metals Handbook.”
