Transformer oil - FR3 oil mixed with Mineral Oil (Type II)

Transformer oil - FR3 oil mixed with Mineral Oil (Type II)

(OP)
I have a scenario where FR3 oil has been mixed with Type II mineral oil. A large amount of the oil (2000 gallons) has been mixed in the oil tanker and the question becomes can the oil be used for Type II mineral oil if it could be reclaimed? Can the oil even be reclaimed to use it as FR3 or should the oil mixture be considered ruined and not used period? I believe I know the answer but I want to see strong evidence either way.

RE: Transformer oil - FR3 oil mixed with Mineral Oil (Type II)

What is the approximate ratio of FR3 to mineral oil in the mixture.

(OP)
The ratio is about 40-60 most being mineral oil. Can I still use the oil for Type II mineral oil use or is there a slight chance to reclaim the oil and use it as FR3?

RE: Transformer oil - FR3 oil mixed with Mineral Oil (Type II)

Suggest that you may contact Cargill, maker of FR3. If the transformer is of 33kV or below, my understanding is that you can use the mixture of FR3 and oil, but the fire property and pour point will be compromised.
