Hello, I am working on an R.O. project and I have a question regarding the location of pressurized water (80 PSI) piping NEXT TO 480 volt electrical panels. I understand the "NO-NO" of installing water piping above panels and the obvious "nothing 36 inches in front of panels" rule. However, there is an argument as to the "next to" ruling. Could someone please help me out on this? Thanks!

In a room that doesn't have an electrical service in it, put a hole with a horizontal axis at an elevation approximating that of the top of the panel in an 80 psi pipe, and measure how far the water travels before hitting the floor.

If this is an "electrical room", then the piping can't be in the room. If these are just panels mounted out in a process area, it could be poor design, but probably not prohibited by the NEC.
