OWSJ reinforcement steel spec

OWSJ reinforcement steel spec

I have a steel joist with calcs (from manufacturer) showing Fy=50ksi for webs and chords.
Pls recommend steel spec should I use to get Fy=50 ksi for reinforcement pieces:
1. round rods
2. angles
3. 1/8" to 1" plates

RE: OWSJ reinforcement steel spec

If I was reinforcing the webs, I would most likely use 36 ksi angles. If I was reinforcing the chords, I most likely would use 50 ksi plates.

RE: OWSJ reinforcement steel spec

If you need 50 ksi, A572 Gr 50 will work for angles, plates, and bars. Consider including some language in the specs that allows alternative 50 ksi steel.
For more information on different shapes, see: https://www.aisc.org/globalassets/modern-steel/ste...
