Structural Steel Connection Design

Structural Steel Connection Design

(OP)
Hi There,

I am delegated with a project for steel connection design and detailing. I am new to some of the connections documented on the design drawings and would like some guidance from experts on how to proceed/verify designs. Primary concerns are with bracing & moment connections. What literature(s) would be beneficial?

RE: Structural Steel Connection Design

What code are you designing to?

Assuming US (AISC) I'd reference the AISC design examples as they cover the more typical connections and verify with the AISC design manual's tables. If you have seismic requirements then AISC seismic design manual. If you have an unusual custom connection (like this one: http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=418928 ) then I'd post that here.
