ASMe B 31.8 - Design factor for hydrotest

(OP)
Hi,
is anybody aware of the design factor that should be used to verify the thickness of a pipeline in the hydrotest condition, according to ASME B 31.8 code?
I usually is a value of 0.95, but i didn't find any actual reference of such value on ASME B31.8

RE: ASMe B 31.8 - Design factor for hydrotest

AFAIK, there isn't one, hence why you can't find it.wink

31.8 doesn't give a max test pressure / stress at the lowest point, which is the equivalent of what you're looking for.

I would normally impose a limit of 1.0 or 1.05 if one isn't specified in the code.

The Utility company for which I worked imposed a max of 1.05. Lots of hills and mountains.
