Curve wrap on a surface
Curve wrap on a surface
(OP)
Hi there
What would be the best way to wrap a curve ( spiral ) on a surface ?
I attach the prt file as well as a paint sketch.
I have been trying to use a wrap curve but it doesn`t work on a multiple face sheet. Also the surface size changes from bottom to up which might be a challenge.
Any ideas would be helpful.
It is done in NX9, but I also have NX10 if it helps
Thank you in advance

RE: Curve wrap on a surface
1) draw a line in the center of that surface shape.
draw a helix around the line and outside the surfaces.
Use Project curve, towards a line, and ... See example.
( See manual for full description of method.)
2) draw a line in the center , draw a line perpendicular to the line.
Use Sweep - orientation Method = angular law, linear 0 to n_revolutions*360
then use intersection curve between the surfaces.
( not done in the uploaded part.)
- The sweep is there, the result from 1) and 2) seems to be the same.
( Do you want that bump in the side of the shape or is that un-intentional?)
Regards,
Tomas
