Allowable time from sampling to testing for DGA

Allowable time from sampling to testing for DGA

Allowable time from sampling to testing for DGA

(OP)
Hello Engineers,

Any one can help me how much the allowable time required by the standard regarding DGA analysis of transformer oil from sampling to testing.
How much the maximum time frame allowed to make the test valid from sampling to analysis.

Many thanks.

RE: Allowable time from sampling to testing for DGA

It would depend on how well sealed the sample is. We ship gas syringes by ground for 3-5 days after sampling to the vendor who runs the testing.

On a side note, when filling the syringe, you eject the remaining air bubbles at the end. Over time, a bubble may reappear inside. Don't flush this bubble as it contain gases that were dissolved in the liquid.

RE: Allowable time from sampling to testing for DGA

IEC 60076-2-2011 Temperature Rise for Oil filled Transformers, It is specified that DGA ( after temperature rise test) shall be done with in 3 days of oil sampling( clause D.4)
