(OP)
Hi
I am trying to do some calculations for a rectangular thin walled pressure vessel, using the equations give in App 13.

Specifically working out K factors

As a 'factor' I would expect K3 to have no units, but the formula to calculate it starts off with a -L² term and as the other terms in the equation are ratios, then K3 would have units of length squared. I assume there must be a factor for unit length as a divisor under the initial L term that is not shown??

In the worked example 13-17(c)(2) the K3 factor has no units and the Bending moment has units of Force x length as you would expect. However, the Bending moment is defined as pressure x the K3 factor, which would give units of Force / length² if K3 was unitless or just Force if K3 had units of length²

Perhaps I am over-analysing this but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
