Help on nx8.5 help

Help on nx8.5 help

Help on nx8.5 help

(OP)
Hi

From this help I do not understand what is the differense between
Exact and •Exact (Pre-NX8.5)

Drafting => Working with drafting views => Controlling the appearance of your drafting view =>
General tab => General options

View Configuration
Representation

ExactDisplays precise model data. Exact views utilize the parasolid hidden line processor with a more memory efficient architecture, therefore offering better performance than the pre-NX8.5 exact views. In an exact view, all of the visible model edges are rendered with extracted edges. The extracted edges can be rendered in either an associative or a non-associative state so that you can manage their update behavior.

•Smart Lightweight – Displays an approximation of the model using a lightweight representation of the geometry. Smart lightweight views utilize a hybrid hidden line processor (HHLP) with a more memory-efficient architecture. In a smart lightweight view, all of the visible model edges are rendered with extracted edges. The different hidden line fonts available for exact views, along with centerline symbols, can likewise be applied to the smart lightweight view. The extracted edges can also be rendered in either an associative or a non-associative state so you can manage the update behavior of the view.

•Lightweight – Displays an approximation of the model as a faceted representation.

For more information, see Lightweight and Smart Lightweight views.

Exact (Pre-NX8.5) – Geometry displayed in the view reflects precise model data.

Thanks in advanced

RE: Help on nx8.5 help

With NX 8.5 the way lightweight and hidden line date was stored in the model was updated and upgraded. While it's still possible to open and even create a Drawing in NX 8.5 or newer using part files, like perhaps Components in a large Assembly which were last saved in a version older than NX 8.5, some of the new Drawing views enhancements cannot be taken advantage of even though the Drawing may appear to be OK. This designation that your view may only be "Pre-NX8.5" is to let you know why it is the you can't use some of these new capabilities. All that you have to do is to first make sure that all of your parts have been updated to at least NX 8.5 level and then you can create either the new 'Exact' and the new 'Smart Lightweight' Drawing views. If you read your post above, you've already described the differences between the view types, just that perhaps you were not aware of the rational behind these changes and how you can go about leveraging these improvements in performance and capabilities.

Thank you John

But both Exact and Exact(Pre-NX8.5) use extracted edges and this confusing me.
