Hi there,
I would like to base a Text Profile on a variable string (from the Variable Table in the part).
My aim is to generate a Family of Parts with a custom name engraved on each member.
1. Is there any way to define a character string variable in the Variable table?
2. If so, is there a special code option when entering in the Text Profile field to access this string? (e.g. similar to Property Text codes in draft callouts...)

I don't think there's a way to define a text string in the variable table. You could define a text property though. Not sure how you'd pass that on to an engraving though. You might want to pose this question on a much more active forum:

Unfortunately this currently cannot be accomplished in Solid Edge.

There is an existing Enhancement Request (ER) requesting this functionality. You should contact either your local GTAC support or Partner support and request for an ER and to be appended to the existing ER.
