45 degree zone of influence

45 degree zone of influence

45 degree zone of influence

(OP)
Hi There,
It might seem very basic, but quite struggling at the moment. I'd like to know how to define whether an item ( cable duct) adjacent to a pad foundation is within the 45 degree zone of influence of that particular pad. I have no loads, only distances. Is there a formula to find out ?

Pad area ( 500 mm2) 2 m deep
The cable pit is 1.7 m away from the pad and go 2.00 deep. How can I know whether that pit is within the zone of influence.

RE: 45 degree zone of influence

If they're both at the same depth, i.e. 2m then it is not within the zone of influence. If the duct is lower than the footing, then it may be. Put a sketch together showing the pad and the duct including all pertinent dimensions and elevations. The answer will become clear.

RE: 45 degree zone of influence

If the pad area is 500 mm2 and is square, it has a side dimension of 22 mm which does not seem reasonable. I assume you mean the pad is 500 x 500 mm2.

What is the dimension of the cable pit? Is 1.7 m the clear dimension between the two or the center to center dimension?
