ABAQUS :Study of SDOF impacts

ABAQUS :Study of SDOF impacts

(OP)
Hello to all,
First of all I am a beginner in ABAQUS and I am currently struggling on the same issue over the past two days.
Enclosed is a simple scheme that try to summarize the model.

I have a 2 dimensional problem, two deformable beams with mass concentrated in the center and a rigid wall on the right.
I had a seismic input that I converted in terms of displacement (U1) and applied to the base and to the top of each element and to the reference point of the rigid body.
In particular, I used a rigid wire.

The point of all is the study of the impacts between the beam and the rigid wire and then between the two beams.

The problem is that, after analyzing the system (dynamic implicit), the results show that NO impacts are recorded because beams pass the rigid wire without any interection.

I tried to set up a surface-to-surface interaction but nothing changes.

Please, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: ABAQUS :Study of SDOF impacts

Make sure you have the deformation scale set to one in postprocessing.

If you still see penetration try Node-to-Surface.
