Design for a small IR grid scene projector

Design for a small IR grid scene projector

Design for a small IR grid scene projector

(OP)
I am new to the design of projectors and am in the process of trying to design and build one that will project an infrared scene consisting of a series of closely spaced vertical lines. The concept I am currently investigating involves using a high power LED IR source to illuminate a 1" x 1" Ronchi ruled glass slide. (If a 2' x 2'slide projector is better suited, this slide could be used). The projector throw is rather short, from 3' to 10' and the maximum projected image size of 3' x 3'.

Any help or reference in the design of the projector lens system, the IR source, and the overall concept would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
Bob

Try Projection displays E.H.STRUPP (WILEY). Most books like this will give useful general theory but won't solve your specific problem as such. System throughput ( etandue ) and light uniformity are major items to look at depending on the requirements of your end user.
