Vacuum Rings vs. Wall Thickness
Vacuum Rings vs. Wall Thickness
(OP)
Is there a quick reference for determining additional wall thickness, in lieu of vacuums rings for a FV vessel? Example below:
24" ID x 6' S/S - MAWP 250 - Full Vacuum - 516-70. Calcs give me .277" wall thickness with 3 rings. If I bumped the thickness to 0.5" would that suffice for the external pressure from the FV?
Thanks

RE: Vacuum Rings vs. Wall Thickness
Nobody can provide you with a rule of thumb if you don't provide such crucial/critical information as the Code of Construction or the coincident temperature.
RE: Vacuum Rings vs. Wall Thickness
ASME Section VIII - Div 1
24" ID x 6' S/S - Vertical
MAWP 250
-20/200F
CA 0.125"
Full Vacuum
516-70
