Is there a quick reference for determining additional wall thickness, in lieu of vacuums rings for a FV vessel? Example below:

24" ID x 6' S/S - MAWP 250 - Full Vacuum - 516-70. Calcs give me .277" wall thickness with 3 rings. If I bumped the thickness to 0.5" would that suffice for the external pressure from the FV?

Run the calculations and see for yourself.

Nobody can provide you with a rule of thumb if you don't provide such crucial/critical information as the Code of Construction or the coincident temperature.

Well thanks TGS4 - I am on the road and don't have access to compress therefore I can't run the calcs at the moment. Yes I was looking for a rule of thumb, however, you so aptly pointed out that there isn't one.

Full Vacuum
