ALE adaptive meshing (non-adaptive node problem)

ALE adaptive meshing (non-adaptive node problem)

ALE adaptive meshing (non-adaptive node problem)

(OP)
Hello,

I'm trying to use ALE adaptive mesh constraint for my model so that the mesh distortion can be avoided. I have tried different settings for mesh constraint, but each time I'm getting the following error "Spatial adaptive mesh constraints can not be specified on nonadaptive node". I am trying to give movement to the mesh in the interaction region of tool/workpiece so that distortion can be avoided.

Can someone help me with defining ALE adaptive mesh constraint ?

Thanks,
Ankit

RE: ALE adaptive meshing (non-adaptive node problem)

Hello,

I am writing to you because I have the same problem. This is my first ALE calculation and I do not know how fix the problem.
Do you resolve it?
Could you help me?

Regards,

Ane

Ane,

Hello.

I haven't been able to define ALE adaptive mesh constraint yet. If you want then you can email me at aankitv@clemson.edu and discuss the process.

Thanks,

Ankit

RE: ALE adaptive meshing (non-adaptive node problem)

Hello,

I don´t know if this may help you but I avoid the problem of "Spatial adaptive mesh constraints can not be specified on nonadaptive node" defining the surface as Eulerian Region. You have to write in the .inp archive
that the surface you used for ALE has to be Eulerian region.

But still I can not get good results. I do not why my piece does not move even I define the movement as predifined field.

Ane

Ane,

Hello.

Sorry for the late reply. I am still getting the 'non-adaptive' error. I tried specifying the surface as 'Eulerian' using the Model keywords editor in ABAQUS/CAE. Were you suggesting this method or something else? If not then how did you overcome the non-adaptive problem. Also, can you tell more about what you're trying to simulate ?

Thanks,

Ankit

RE: ALE adaptive meshing (non-adaptive node problem)

Helllo,

Fist and foremost happy new year!!!
Sorry for the late reply.I define eulerian surface in the the surface where flow enter and exit. But when I defined the nset to define
enter and exit zone of the flow I did not consider the nodes of the corner or border because if you consider this nodes you should have the non-adaptative problem I guess.

My intention is to simulate rolling a tube.

Ane

Ane,

Hello.

Thanks and wish you the same!

I'm sorry but it's still not completely clear to me. Basically, the surfaces which have been defined as eulerian have been excluded in the adaptive mesh constraint? or just the inflow and outflow surfaces have been selected for adaptive mesh constraint without selecting the nodes neighboring these two surfaces?

Are you simulating using quasi-static or dynamic option and is it purely mechanical process simulation?

Best regards,
Ankit
