Activate command line window while in sub tree

Activate command line window while in sub tree

Activate command line window while in sub tree

(OP)
Hi,
When working in the main window in assembly design work bench, if type any command that will directly activate the command line window.
But, if we open any ‘sub-tree’ or ‘other selections’ window and type command, command line window is not activated.
To give the command, first we need to click in main window by mouse and then we should type.
Due to this problem, I unable to use user alias while in sub tree and only able to use accelerator keys.
Is there any option available to directly type command while in sub tree or other selection window.

i could not think about any option that would let you do this.

just by curiosity, which alias would you like to use while working in sub-tree?

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the reply.
I am using ‘CC’ as user alias for component constraints.
If I directly use this ‘CC’ by just selecting any surface or edge, it will go to the first part level and give the related constraints only.
For example, in my main assembly, if I have a product in first level and then a part within that product,
if I select an edge and give ‘CC’ command, it go to the part level only and gives the constraints related to that part only.
But, my requirement is to find the constraints to the first level product.
To achieve that, I go to other selection option, and click the specific product and give the command ‘CC’.
But, as it is in sub window, alias is not working.
If it is possible, work will be simple.
It is example only. Like this I am using alias for hide/show, degrees of freedom etc.
Please provide any solution.
Suresh

RE: Activate command line window while in sub tree

well... don't use Alias but Accelerator.

Accelerators are faster than Alias

in your case you select something (edge) then you select the product... if you make a quick script to get the host product from any selection, you'll do that in 1 click.

if you need more keys: http://xkeys.com/XkeysKeyboards/index.php or http://store.genovation.com/index.php/programmable... (I did not try any of those product)

Hi Eric,
For time being, I have found a work around by using HOTKEYZ.
I have created the hotkeys for component constraints and degrees of freedom.
It is working fine now by selecting the product in other selection.

[RBUTTON][PAUSE][DOWN][DOWN][DOWN][DOWN][DOWN][DOWN][DOWN][ENTER][M]

But, I want to get some idea about scripting.
I just tried to create macros by recording.
But, it doesn’t work.
I will learn some things and come back to you with my doubts.
Thanks.
Suresh.
