Hello,

How the E value is calculated in PV elite saddle calculation.

See below my calculation,

Saddle Reaction Force due to Wind Ft [Fwt]:
= Ftr * ( Ft/Num of Saddles + Z Force Load ) * B / E
= 3.00 * ( 55348.5/2 + 7975 ) * 1045.0/1154.0
= 96846.1 N

But the actual Base plate length i have input is 1440mm only.

Please clarify.

I believe PV Elite is considering E to be the outside rib to outside rib distance. To work around this, you can change dimension E to be equal to the base plate length if your saddle will be fully supported on the foundation. There should be an input "Dimension E at Base (optional)" where you can change this value.

Ref. to PV Elite saddle calculations per Moss.
I have several questions about the calculations and formulas used to calculate moments of Inertia Io of a saddle (lateral direction)
First of all, in calculations shown for saddles, one term from original D. Moss calculations "Sum of AY2"
is missing, while both A, Y and A*Y are present. The value of this term, if considered, may almost double the resultant value of I. It is neglected or did not apply?
Second, if looking at moments of inertia of (portion) of shell and wear plate with almost the same geometrical dimensions, location and shape, the results in table Y-A-AY-Io are way different, 8 to 12 times. How do these values are calculated?

The issue and the closer look at these formulas came from a practical situation, where a big hole is present in the web plate, and we tried to "subtract" that area, moment, etc. from total. The result had been, in any case considered, questionable: the I resulted bigger such as the saddle was stronger (always centroid C1 resulted smaller).
