In Sept 2015 I posted a question about groove welding rebar to plate and I recall that someone posted or gave a reference to a table of the required weld size and plate thickness to develop the bar strength. I cannot now find that. Would anyone know that reference that gives required plate thickness etc? The detail is for a new rebar that is in line with an existing rebar, and the weld is along the side of the new rebar and along the side of the existing rebar. I will post a diagram in a moment.

RE: In Sept 2015 I posted a question ab

The plate design would be per AISC Ch. J. PCI Design Handbook 7th Ed. has a design aid 6.15.3 which gives the required length of weld based on plate thickness.

Probably this one: Link

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

To Chadv and Kootk - yes thank you. That was what I was looking for. I'll have to do a better job of saving it this time. Thank you very much.
