Spreadsheet for Appendix D | Annex D

Spreadsheet for Appendix D | Annex D

Spreadsheet for Appendix D | Annex D

(OP)
I keep intending to program a spreadsheet for doing anchor design. I thought I would check to see if anyone was willing to share before I put my time into this... So: Anybody have a good, free, spreadsheet for Annex D (USA = Appendix D)?

RE: Spreadsheet for Appendix D | Annex D

I wrote a very large spreadsheet to do Appendix D anchors a while back...more as an exercise to learn Appendix D than to have one ready to actually use.

After spending a lot of time on it, and learning App. D in the process, I gave it up as the spreadsheet was getting so large it was hard to keep up with it, so to speak.
Plus, Appendix D, at the time, was very new and was significantly changing with each new version of 318. I had it written to do any configuration of anchors (1 anchor all the way to a 12x12 layout) so it got pretty messy dealing with the potential configurations and forces on each anchor.

With Hilti Profis, Powers software, Simpson Strong-tie, etc. all out there to use it just doesn't make sense to spend the time on a spreadsheet going forward.
I accomplished my main goal of learning the code by doing it but don't plan to do so in the future.

RE: Spreadsheet for Appendix D | Annex D

My issue with Profis and the like is the same as my issue with my favourite anchor program, Hilti HAP. If you don't have access to the "real calcs", it is a black box not of your making. When "they" decide to make it unavailable, or change the file format/whatever, your old calcs are "gone". Printing results, etc, is all well and good, but I want to have access to the calcs for reuse on similar projects.

My intention for the spreadsheet is to have a set of calcs that I always have access to, which cannot be pulled out from under me. Call it a personal preference, but that's where I want to go with it...

So, JAE: Any chance you'd be willing to share what you created?

Use Powers PDA software. Has all the calculations written out for you to see with all the equations cited. Also allows you to design cast-in anchors.

RE: Spreadsheet for Appendix D | Annex D

I have a spreadsheet that was shared with me by a senior, don't know if its free or not. I can email it to you if you want.
