Torsional Properties in Wide Flange with Channel Cap

Torsional Properties in Wide Flange with Channel Cap

Does anyone have a way to calculate Wno and Sw1 in wide flange beams with channel caps? This paper with provide a user with J and Cw, but I'm looking to determine Wno and Sw1 for warping and normal stress, and I can't seem to figure out how they would be derived. Thanks in advance.

RE: Torsional Properties in Wide Flange with Channel Cap

I'd be inclined to use the Bi-moment method (AISC Torsion Design Guide) as an estimate.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Kootk, where section of the design guide are you referring to?

See figure 4.4 and the text that references it.
