Reuse OOTB button icons on custom made NX 10 tools

Reuse OOTB button icons on custom made NX 10 tools

(OP)
Hi,
I have started to make some custom automation tools and rather then come up with my own button icons/images, I would like access and reuse the existing icons that are relevant. Just specifying them in my men/tbr file. Is there a way to do this? What format are they in and where are they located? I have searched bmp, jpg, gif, ico, etc. and can't seem to find them.

Thanks.

RE: Reuse OOTB button icons on custom made NX 10 tools

They should be bmp's 24x24 or 32x32 size. If you make the background purple NX will recognize it as transparent...
If you go into customize you can copy the icon from a button..I suspect they are embedded in the executables...

RE: Reuse OOTB button icons on custom made NX 10 tools

John Baker posted a complete map of all icons on this forum some time ago.
i googled :
nx icons site:www.eng-tips.com

and found this :

I do not know if the zipfiles still are available on the FTP or not.

RE: Reuse OOTB button icons on custom made NX 10 tools

The existing icons can be specified in your new menu or toolbar in this format 'BITMAP table_exit_edit'. You can find the existing icon name from the default menu files in UGII/menus.

If creating your own icons you will need to save them as 24 bit bitmaps to get the magenta transparency to work. See https://docs.plm.automation.siemens.com/tdoc/nx/10.0.3/nx_help/#uid:index_customizing_nx_installation:customize_interface:ui_customize_uic_cust_tl_btmp

RGB 255,0,255 for the background - and as already stated, save it as a 24-bit bitmap file (.bmp).

There are no separate files for the internal icons - they are built in to the code in several sizes.
To use the built in icons, you only need to know the name, and the system will select the correct size for the location, such as on the ribbon.

That's great Mark, is there a way to discover the bitmap names for any giving OOTB icon?

Go to customize mode then right click on a button; choose change button icon -> icon name... The dialog that pops up will give the name of the current icon image.
