Difference between adding pressure load for shell and solid model

Difference between adding pressure load for shell and solid model

(OP)
Hi guys!

Can you explain to me the difference between adding the loads in shell and solid model? Let's say a pressure of 1000 Pa is added on one face of a solid model. In shell model, in the direction of the acting pressure there is no face but line. So, do I add the same value of 1000 Pa or I have to divide the value of 1000 Pa with the width of the face from solid 3D model and use that value as a value of pressure acting on a line of shell model?

Regards,

RE: Difference between adding pressure load for shell and solid model

You cannot apply a regular pressure on a shell edge, just on a shell face.

For a shell edge there is a specific shell edge load in /CAE. And as the Analysis Users Guide 34.4.3 Distributed loads explains, those loads are in force per unit length.
