I have a part to a vessel designed to ASME 2015. Customer has designed vessel and other parts to ASME 2013. I must use 2015 per Sec VIII Div 1 Appendix 43, but to help the customer get over this difference in dates which they believe is insurmountable, I am looking for a technical basis and have not come up with one. Has anyone had experience with this difference in dates/parts and can provide a lead. Thank.s

RE: Basis for oomponent of a PV designed to 2015 and vessel to 2013

dharhay, looks to me like 43-2(c) is all the out your customer needs.

Failing that, you could presumably certify that your part meets the earlier edition, "dual certifying" if necessary.

Afraid I can't offer anything further.

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Thanks for your reply. This is not our responsibility to outline the path needed, but to help the customer and learn is the bigger picture. Thanks again.

"Not your responsibility". You're the mfr as it's your responsibility to comply. Saying that, all your customer has to do is to check if all comply to the later edition and certify the work by signalizing it. You as the stamp holder have to check and certify as well. GenBlr
