seismic auto-lateral load X & Y simultaneously?

seismic auto-lateral load X & Y simultaneously?

seismic auto-lateral load X & Y simultaneously?

(OP)
Hi,

I would appreciate if someone can help me understand the auto-lateral loads for earthquake that etabs generates.

In the auto-lateral load, I input all the seismic coefficients and factors. For the direction of the load, can i select both X & Y? or do i have to create a different load pattern for X direction and another one for Y direction?

I've noticed that if I select X & Y in the same load pattern, i get two sets of deflections, frame forces. But how about the design? does it combined them? or designs for the each of them and then get the max rebars? sorry but i'm confused.

Any help is appreciated
