Hi all while going through a clien

(OP)
Hi all
while going through a client specification I found that for sour service requirement vessel plate shall have to be Z quality with 35% s.
1.As per nace MR0175 What is the criteria for a service to be declared as Sour?
2.What is this Z quality plate?
3.Vendor is providing me material as SA 516 Gr.70 + HIC . Is it inline with the above requirement?
Please suggest
Thanks in advance

RE: Hi all while going through a clien

1. NACE MR0175 defines sour service as any oilfield environment that can cause cracking by mechanisms (SSC and others!) covered in the standard. It is unfortunately not a concise, specific definition. For SSC alone, you can look at Figure 1 which gives the SSC Region (0, 1, 2, 3).

2. Z quality plate appears to reference a test type. See "through thickness properties" about halfway down this page: http://www.steelconstruction.info/Material_selecti...

3. Maybe. You will need specifics on the intended environment, an understanding of NACE MR0175, and a purchase specification that includes the Z35 requirement.
