Dlubal

All,

Do you have any experience with this software? A quick sample and so far it seems fantastic; why have I never heard of this stuff?

That question is only partiallh rhetorical...

RE: Dlubal

In answer to the question:

"For more than 25 years, the German-Czech company Dlubal Software develops engineering programs for FEA and structural analysis."

Looks like they mainly target mainland Europe, although the web site is in English.

I also see they post an up-front price for their products, which makes a refreshing change.

RE: Dlubal

I tried Dlubal and it's great. Once you know most of the features it's really simple and powerful at the same time.
It's really widespread in mainland Europe (mostly Austria and Germany) but looks like they want to expand to other markets as well. Probably it's not going to happen overnight but they have a solid product - with German feel for accuracy. RFEM and RSTAB have a modular structure so it's a bit pricey if you need a lot of modules. Basic program it's not so expensive.
