STUD/BOLTS MTO

(OP)
Hi guys,
What is the appropriate stage of providing Stud/Bolts MTO in a project? is it provided in feed stage or it has to be postpone to detail design stage?

Regards
Akbari

RE: STUD/BOLTS MTO

Normally provided by the construction contractor.

RE: STUD/BOLTS MTO

akbari1358,
Early MTO's for Bolts & Nuts can be done from Issued For Approval (IFA) or Issued For Construction (IFC) P&IDs. However, I think the timing and responsibility for early MTO's also depends on factors such as:
- Type of Project - E(only), E&P, EPC, EPCM. These Project Types can present different placement for the responsibility for MTO and/or Procurement of commodities.
- Jobsite Location - Offshore rig, Subsea Pipeline, Onshore/Cross Country Pipeline, Onshore Greenfield Refinery, Onshore Revamp. Each of these may require different timing for a Nut & Bolt MTO. Hot sandy desert, Gulf Coast or Alaska. These three locations present different logistical considerations.
- Material and Line Class designations - Common Carbon Steel Studs and Nuts for 3" through 24" Class 150 or Class 300 will have a vastly different shelf availability than some exotic Alloys, very High Pressure or very large Flange Bolting requirements.

Projects need to be fully aware of potential problems related to Material availability and supply stream logistics then take proper and timely action.

Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results

RE: STUD/BOLTS MTO

Considering the original choices, it is certainly not FEED.
