Load On Beam FEA

Load On Beam FEA

Load On Beam FEA

(OP)
Hi guys,

I`m trying to analyze a cage for a buoy for a small project using Solidwork Simulation and i`m really new using simulation software. The cage is suppose to be able to withstand the uplift force generated by the buoy. However, i`m i`m not really sure that my concept is correct. The picture attached is for illustration only. Taking from the picture, the force generated is around 3 tons, two hollow are in contact with the buoy. I`m thinking of applying Centered Load Distribution at the beam. The thing is, what is the correct way interpreting the force at the beam, either 3tons at each beam, or 1.5 ton on each?

RE: Load On Beam FEA

The processor-intensive (slow) way would be model the whole system, including contact. Don't do that.

Your cylinder-on-flat load is not evenly distributed across entire beam. It is a localized load in a small area. Linear contact in theory; a small area around that line in reality.
