Abaqus vs Ansys - Thermal Analysis
Abaqus vs Ansys - Thermal Analysis
(OP)
Hello,
So, there is a debate between Abaqus and Ansys regarding to thermal analysis. Can anyone tell me what software is more suitable for themal analysis ?
I am using abaqus and i am noticing some limitation, for exemple not calculating directly the heat flow. Is it worth it to invest more time in Abaqus ? If i go to transiente and cfd analysis the limitations are going to be bigger ?
Should i go to Ansys ?
Thanks

CFD is a different beast. And it depends on your flow situation/regime.
In the end, do your homework and choose a suitable tool for the job, but understand that it is merely a tool and the only assurance of success friend on the engineer using it.

So first of all one cannot simply say one is better than another just because you are struggling wit a problem in Abaqus. You first have to define your problem as a whole. See also: https://www.researchgate.net/post/Which_one_provid...
For me Abaqus is way more convenient easier to use (in MY opinion. Keep in mind WHAT IS THE PROBLEM!). I worked with both programs already. As far as I know you have to learn the Ansys specific language APDL if you want to get specific data as an output. Same goes with Abaqus if you have a special problem but there you can use Python. For CFD Ansys might be your "right" choice because there are two programs you can use for your problem: CFX and fluent. Fluent uses a coupled solver.
Keep in mind that FLUENT uses Finite Volumes whereas CFX uses Finite Elements!
If you want an alternative and simulate in a browser (whose solution will not be calculated on your computer but on a server which will save you time and a lot of stress
Cheers!

Here is THE lesson I took:
Pick the cheapest option with top notch technical support that lets you do everything that you want to be able to do today and five years from now with the resources you have right now.
Almost everything else is debatable.
