Vessel Skirt Design

Vessel Skirt Design

Vessel Skirt Design

(OP)
Can anybody help me in understanding the basic principles for design of skirt support, especially skirt thickness calculation & base ring analysis?

RE: Vessel Skirt Design

What have you read in your own independent research into understanding for yourself?

RE: Vessel Skirt Design

Unfortunately, this is a somewhat complex answer and, in my opinion, beyond the range of these fora.

I suggest that you purchase and study some of the texts published on pressure vessel design, (like so many on this forum have done)

Come back with more specific questions

Some of the best texts that deal explicitly with skirt design:

Is this the first vessel that you have been assigned ?

Is there a senior engineer available to whom you can ask questions ?

Did your MBA boss suggest that you post questions here ?

RE: Vessel Skirt Design

MJCronin,
Think you could be right on the MBA boss front. Just heard over here in the UK that the Association of Project Management has nearly attained Chartered status. So we will have a load of Chartered Project Managers and Engineers running about - laughable!!!!
