Anchor bars into Hollow Core Precast Planking

Anchor bars into Hollow Core Precast Planking

Anchor bars into Hollow Core Precast Planking

(OP)
I am designing a barrier wall for an existing parking structure. The contractor would like to cast a perimeter wall on top of the precast plank hollow core deck. Does anyone have a good detail they can share for embedding the vertical reinforcing bars into the planks? The bar will have to be able to be fully developed and I'm not sure the best way to do this and have confidence the wall will withstand a 10k ultimate impact load.

Thanks!

RE: Anchor bars into Hollow Core Precast Planking

I would bet the hollowcore itself would not be able to withstand that kind of lateral load into the last core. That would be the first place to start I think.

If that is a no go, then you're going to need to find another way around it anyways, like a horizontally spanning wall between columns.

If the hollow-core can take the load, then I would expect that it would be bent dowels installed into grouted cores.

There was a good article regarding barrier walls in one of the recent "Structure" magazine issues. You might want to search for that and read it before getting in much deeper.
