Fluegas Duct

Fluegas Duct

Fluegas Duct

(OP)
Does anybody know the latest version pf ASCE "The design of Air and Gas Ducts for Power Stations and Industrial Boiler Applications" is the 1995 version? or there is any after 1995?

Anybody knows that if there is not any published after 1995 then we can use the load combination of 1995?
Somebody verbally told me that the 1.33 incresae in allowable stress for Excrusion is not valid any more, is that right?

Also the vertical wall stiffeners are considered MWFRS or C&C ?

Thank you for your kind share.
Sincerely

RE: Fluegas Duct

What code are you trying to use? Structures like this typical are not "required" to meet any code... for good reasons:

1. They are so different from buildings that the contents of most building codes do not even make sense when applied to these items.

2. To meet their intended use, this type duct work (and other components), have to be designed using basic, sound engineering principles. The result is the finished product will likely exceed any general purpose code requirements.

3. Usually, absolute minimum first cost is NOT top priority. Longevity and reliability are far more important.

IMHO, looking around to find some obscure code "loop hole" as an excuse to cut costs is not right.
