Mv cable screen

(OP)
What would be the implications of not bonding an mv single core cable screen at all? Dont intend to do this but am trying to understand what consequences would be if this inadvertently happened. Would it be a concentration of electrical stress on the insulation at the isolated screen ends and/or noise would be greatly annenuated due to unterminated screen resistance.

RE: Mv cable screen

The outer sheath would effectively become part of the active insulation system instead of being decoupled from the it by the earthed screen, subjecting it to voltage stresses it is not designed to handle. The screen would be at a non-zero potential determined by the capacitances and leakage resistances of the screen to the sheath and screen to live conductor. At terminations you may find that local electric field strengths exceed design values and PD occurs.
