Anyone remember why the floor diaphragm plywood field nailing was changed to 12" from 10" in the 1988 UBC?

Not sure if related but there was a period when wood design values were generally downgraded. And we had to tell a whole lot of Contractors that today's trees are, well, different from yesterday's.
