Good morning, all. So our QC department is asking me whether or not we can use bar for a studded outlet (I assume for a side wall)referencing Section VIII. I am telling them no per UG-14, however I wanted to be sure I am not missing anything that may allow us to do this.

Yes you can, by using Code Case 2156-1.

Applicable Materials of ASME are listed in ASME Code.
For example, See 'UCS-5' and 'Table UCS-23' for Carbon & Low Alloy Carbon steels in ASME SEC.VIII Div.1.
