Finite difference method - GETVRM and UEXTERNALDB

Finite difference method - GETVRM and UEXTERNALDB

(OP)
Dear all,

I need to implement the general heat equation (which is a differential equation) through a numerical method - finite difference method. To do that, I have to access the temperature of the adjacent elements. Anyone know how to do that? I have tried to use the utility routine GETVRM with the USDFLD subroutine with no success. As far as I know, the UEXTERNALDB subroutine may also work to do this task, but I don't find any example of this. I would very grateful if anyone could help me with this.

Best regards
João Reis
