Hi,
could anyone please advise if any serious pump vibrations can be caused if the sea chest strainer on the suction side is clogged? is it normally experienced in the marine industry?

Yes it is quite common - seawater is not clean (seaweed, fish, plastic bags, ropes all get sucked in and block strainers.
Can you isolate and clean the strainers?
Or back flush?

Pump Vibrations is caused by:
- A bad Bearing or Bushing!
- A Broken or Eroded Impeller!
- One or more broken Anchor Bolts!
- A Broken Coupling!
- A Blocked Suction Strainer!
- Captivation due to low suction head!
Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results
