lost CHANGE BODY option

lost CHANGE BODY option

(OP)
can anyone tell me how to recover the option to change bodies?

I want to move a sketch from one body to another. I was doing this with no problems, but suddenly the option is no longer there when I right-click on the sketch and try to change the sketch object.

RE: lost CHANGE BODY option

hi,

Do you have this PB only with sketch or with any wireframe object ? What version are you using ?  Is your CATPart active (if you work in a CATProduct) ?  It does not work if you select ONLY 1 sketch or several element ?

Let us know more about your PB..

Eric....   thanks for the inquiry about my problem

Normally, I only use CHANGE BODY with a single sketch while in the Part Design workbench.

to answer your specific questions:

1. I just created a new part, and the problem was with sketches AND wireframe objects (at least lines and points)

2. I'm using V5R7 (don't know which service pack)

3. I tried selecting several sketches as well as sketches and wf objects, and still have the problem - no CHANGE BODY option

My in-house CATIA support suggested I delete my CATSettings, but that didn't fix my problem. They don't have the problem - the CHANGE BODY option is available to them. But my co-worker is having the same problem as me.

One thing my in-house support guy said was the CHANGE BODY option is definitely NOT available when you select multiple things. As I said earlier, I only change one sketch at a time.

RE: lost CHANGE BODY option

So..

ChangeBody works for several object of same kind... only Curves OR only Points and even Sketches... watch out for element made by Intersection or Projection...

I know that I dont have the changebody option when I am working in a Sketch...

If you have that pb with only 1 file.. try Copy/Past and then Replace to make your construction follow the new sketch. But if you have this PB with all file then I suggest you forget R7 and try R10 with new settings...

RE: lost CHANGE BODY option

Please note that "change Body can be used for all wireframe data( Project, Intersect, Extrude,Translate...). Also Multiple selecting is possible by selecting these objects except sketches. Which meens u can select Extrude, Intersect, Project all in one go and use change body command but u cannot include Sketch with them.
All sketches/ a set of sketches may be used in a change body command.
try typing "c:change body" in the command prompt after u select the Wireframe element.

Ganesh,   thanks for the suggestions

I tried typing in the command, but got the message "unknown command"

I also tried TOOLS+CUSTOMIZE+COMMANDS, but Change Body doesn't show up in the list of all commands. ????

PS to Eric: going to R10 is not an option right now
