Moving parts into subassembly

Moving parts into subassembly

Moving parts into subassembly

(OP)
Hi All,

For example I have an assembly of 6 parts. All parts are fully constraint on each other.

Now I add a part which will become a sub-assembly and move some parts to this part. Now it becomes a sub-assembly.

The problem is that all the constraints of the parts which are moved into the new sub assembly are lost.
I can imagine that a constraint referring to a part outside the sub assembly is lost.
But whit a constraint between two parts which both are moved into the sub-assembly, I can imagine these constraint should be maintained between them?

Any solutions ?

RE: Moving parts into subassembly

I remember that it was the same topic here, but last time it remained unanswered. Let me join you in this question.

RE: Moving parts into subassembly

a work around is to save your assembly as a new sub assebly
and in this sub assebly remove what you do not need
and now add the sub assebly to your main assembly

RE: Moving parts into subassembly

notice

If you relize this in early stage you can start with the sub assembly
and then make new part as your main assembly add the needed components
and then add the sub assembly

RE: Moving parts into subassembly

Another workaround would be using “Remember Constraints” command.
Other would be in the Master Model Drawing file switch to modeling and copy and paste the assembly file, then rename it using “Make Unique” then move it in (to become sub assembly) and delete unwanted files.

Hi Guys,

Is it really so hard to have it working more easy without workarrounds ?

It is NOT so really hard to have it working without workarrounds

But

As I know their is no NX function dedicated for this.

I mean I feel like you.
