Parameter study of parts modelled by the top-down design approach

Parameter study of parts modelled by the top-down design approach

(OP)
Hi all,

I want to do a parameter study in ansys of a part (call it Part A) modeled with Inventor 2016 using the skeletal modelling technique. This means its geometry with all parameter driven dimensions are found in a master part (Part B). Here is the problem. I am not able to import part A together with the parameters I want to a study of because they are contained with in the master part. I am able to do this without problems if I create the part using the bottom-up design approach.

Do anyone have a way around this? Meaning I can use the skeletal modeling technique and do parameter studies in ansys.

Any help is much appreciated.

Espen
