Force maximize on open

Force maximize on open

Force maximize on open

(OP)
Ok so this shows how pedantic I can be ... dazed

When I open a part from Teamcenter the model appears as a window which I then need to "maximize".
It didn't use to do this and doesn't seem to remember my preference when I close NX.

Any ideas how I can force models to open maximized?

Cheers!

RE: Force maximize on open

you say that the graphics window in NX is a separate ( non maximal) window and not "docked" when you start a new session? ( But once maximized the graphics window stays maximized during the session ?)

I have three proposals to check / test.
( in "bad -order"...)
File -Preferences - User interface - Layout - Check that the option "save layout at exit" is ticked
If this is ticked, NX should save the window size = max when you exit the session.

If the above doesn't work, ( note that this option might erase other personal settings in the UIF. Before performing this , - create a user role.)
File -Preferences - User interface - Layout - Reset window position.
This should make the Graphics window maximized and docked. but it will also (?) reset the menus.
( It did reset the menus before the ribbon UIF)

I do not think that the window size is saved in the files under C:\Users\Tomas\AppData\Local\Siemens\NX100
but rather in the Registry...
The Windows registry is an evil invention since it manages both the OS and the applications. Once messed up it might never recover. -be very careful.
But, the NX implementation in the Registry is quite smartly done,
If you delete or rename the keys, NX will simply create new default ones..
If I guess -I would try rename( or delete)the key "Graphics" under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\NX\10.0\Layout

( If you rename, you can restore if this didn't work)

Tomas

Magic ...
The second option worked a treat as "Save layout on exit" was already ticked.

It was good to see this only resets the windows layout (which is what you would hope) so you just have to undock and re-hide the resource bars as desired.
Before doing this I took a quick screenshot of my customised ribbon bars just in case it reset these too. But it was good to see these remained intact.

Thanks Toost!!

Oh ... and I've just discovered a feature for the resource selection bar that allows you to "Dock on second monitor".

Magic!!
It's the simple things that give me so much pleasure!!!
